Filipino American Proffessional boxers, Former flyweight and light flyweight champion Brian Viloria is scheduled for his upcoming bout against the Mexican boxer Ruben Montoya on March 3, 2017, in Japan.

Former junior flyweight and flyweight champion, Brian "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria (36-5, 22KOs, 36 years old), will fight on Japanese soil for the first time in his career.

Viloria is set for action at Ryogoku Sumo Arena (National Sports Arena) on March 2 as part of a boxing event promoted by the influential Akihiko Honda of Tokyo's Teiken Boxing Gym. Viloria's opponent will be Mexican contender Ruben "Huracán" Montoya (14-4-1, 9KOs, 31 years old) in an  eight round fight.

Viloria, it will be his first appearance in the ring since his failed attempt to capture the WBC flyweight world title from Roman "Chocolatito" González. Viloria was stopped in the eight round at Madison Square Garden in New York in October 2015. Gonzalez has since vacated the title and moved up in weight to capture the WBC super featherweight world title.

The main event will featured a defense of the World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight championship by unbeaten Japanese left-hander Shinsuke Yamanaka (26-0-2, 18KOs , 34 years old). He will make the twelfth defense of his title against Mexican challenger Carlos "Memín" Carlson (22-1, 13 KOs, 26 years old).

Brian Viloria returned from nearly 15 months out of the ring to score an 8-round unanimous decision over Mexico's Ruben Montoya on Thursday, March 2 at Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

The Filipino-American "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria (37-5-0-2, 22 knockouts) reportedly had to deal with ring rust against Montoya (14-5-1, 9 KOs) in his promotional debut for Teiken Promotions, winning by the scores of 78-74, 78-75 and 77-75.

 In another eight round fight, #3 IBF world ranked super bantamweight Ryosuke Iwasa (22-2, 14KOs, 27 years old) will face Filipino featherweight Glenn Medura (8-1-1, 5KOs, 21 years old).

Also on the card, will battle for Japan's super featherweight championship, with world ranked Kenichi Ogawa (20-1, 16 KOs, 28-year-old) going up against Japan's #1 ranked Satoru Sugita (12-3-,1 7 KOs) in a fourth defense of the Japanese crown.
